Writing with ALB Tutoring

While working with ALB Tutoring, students’ organization and thinking skills evolve naturally, becoming more clear and confident. This progress often has a domino effect on their writing skills. Working with ALB Tutoring, students learn to better formulate their ideas, organize their thoughts, write, and revise.

There is no one-size-fits-all model of learning. As a result, Alessandra is passionate about learning new methods to best help and support students’ learning and development. During the winter and spring of 2022, she is receiving training in The Hochman Method to “enable students to master the skills that are essential if they are to become competent writers” (The Writing Revolution).

The Hochman Method - developed by Dr. Judith Hochman, former head of the Windward School in New York and Westchester and originally designed to help those with language-based learning disabilities - transforms learning for all students. Alessandra has already begun to incorporate Hochman’s sentence and paragraph skills, composition strategies, and note taking techniques alongside ALB Tutoring’s own POWER Method. Students are learning to “become better readers, to communicate more effectively in writing and speaking, and most, importantly, to elevate their thinking” (The Writing Revolution). These writing workshops equip students with the confidence and ability to organize their thoughts, express themselves clearly, and learn in various contexts.
